But what is the <strong>origin of flamenco<\/strong>?  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Mix of Cultures<\/h2>\n\n<p>Flamenco was born in <strong>Andalusia<\/strong>, in southern Spain, between the 18th and 19th centuries. But its roots go much deeper and involve a<strong> blend of cultures<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>Its development was influenced by <strong>Gypsies<\/strong> (Roma), who arrived in Spain in the 15th century, as well as <strong>Moors<\/strong>, S<strong>ephardic Jews<\/strong>, and local <strong>Andalusian Spaniards<\/strong>. These groups shared musical traditions and rhythms that gave rise to flamenco as we know it today. <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/corinaele.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/pexels-mark-neal-201020-3365379-1-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-261467\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Singing, Dancing and Guitar<\/h2>\n\n<p>Flamenco is made up of three main elements:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cante<\/strong> (singing): Expressive and emotional, sometimes sad, sometimes joyful. There are many styles, or <em>palos<\/em>, such as sole\u00e1, buler\u00eda or seguiriya. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Baile<\/strong> (dance): Strong footwork, dramatic gestures, and powerful storytelling through movement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Guitarra<\/strong> (guitar): Flamenco guitar uses special techniques like r<em>asgueo<\/em> and <em>picado<\/em> to create its signature sound.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/corinaele.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/pexels-frendsmans-6160421-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-261464\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intangible Cultural Heritage<\/h2>\n\n<p>In 2010, <strong>UNESCO<\/strong> declared flamenco an Intangible <strong>Cultural Heritage<\/strong> of Humanity, highlighting its global cultural importance.
